When introduced in 1945, the Rolex Datejust was the first waterproof automatic wristwatch to display the date in a window located on the dial. In its first version, the Rolex Datejust offers a fluted bezel like the brand's early Oyster models and a Jubilee bracelet. The Cyclops magnifying glass was added in 1953 to make the date easier to read. Until 1955, the date began to change several hours before midnight, but on that date Rolex adapted its mechanism to make the date change instantaneously at exactly midnight.
